About the event

As part of the SMIDGE project, we are pleased to invite you to our fifth webinar, “Radicalisation and Extremist Narratives – Quo Vadis?”, organised by the Kosovar Centre for Security Studies (KCSS) in partnership with Inclusive Europe.

We invite you to participate actively in the webinar, sharing your knowledge and learning from other experts in the field. You can also find ways to collaborate more actively with stakeholders and periodically share ideas and insights on tackling extremist narratives, online radicalisation, and dis/misinformation.

Now in its third and final year, the SMIDGE project is focused on strengthening collaboration across research initiatives and fostering the exchange of knowledge in the field of radicalisation, online extremism, and misinformation. This webinar brings together researchers and practitioners from SMIDGE, ARENAS, OppAttune, and other key stakeholders for an engaging and interdisciplinary dialogue.

Speakers:

  • Sara Wilford (SMIDGE), Associate Professor in the Centre for Computing and Social Responsibility at De Montfort University (DMU). Investigates Social media extremism and misinformation and the vulnerability of middle-aged people.

  • Line Nybro Petersen (SMIDGE), Associate Professor in Media Studies at the University of Copenhagen (UCPH). Investigates extremism, conspiracy theories and misinformation on social media and the role of technologies on the spread of this content online.

  • Katalin Miklóssy (ARENAS), Head of Eastern European Studies at the University of Helsinki specialising in the history of the rule of law and its connections to nationalist and conservative narratives.

  • Kesi Mahendran (OppAttune), Professor of Social & Political Psychology at The Open University specialised in the dialogue between citizens and their governments.
